Hi, I’m Jacob Cavallin, and I love drawing and creating. I have been making for as long as I can remember. My art has changed many times as I’ve developed my artistic voice, and the face and figure have grown into my prevailing muses.
I’ve taken great interest in harmonizing the loose expressive marks of abstract drawing with the meticulous precision of realism. I want to show how chaos can come into clarity. Art has been how I’ve distilled my own complex emotions into visual narrative. As a tool that I’ve used to navigate my being in the world, I try to use my drawing methods to suggest the emotional ambiguity of feelings without words in my work.
My studio is near historic Alton, Ontario, Canada, where I am continually developing my techniques in charcoal, and oils, and exploring how else I can use these mediums.
My highest visual aim is to marry loose expression with meticulous mark-making and see how this pairing can capture beautiful moments in time.
